Mr. Kolitha Sri Nissanka has over 35 years of experience in designing, installing, commissioning and maintenance of Fire Detection and Protection systems. He was able to qualify as factory trained Engineer on Inergen Gas suppression systems, Foam system designing, installation, and commissioning UL Listed Fire Pumps.

Kolitha earned his Fellow Membership from the Institution of Fire Engineers UK, Master of Science from Kotelawala Defense University. He has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Colombo

For many years Kolitha served in the Sri Lanka Air force and has held the office as the the Chief Fire Officer of the Colombo Fire Brigade for many years. Subsequently, he joined the private sector as a general Manager in one of the leading Fire Company.

In early 1996 soon after the terrorist attack on Sri Lanka Central Bank and subsequent major Fire Incident, the Colombo Municipal Council Fire Brigade (CFB) was taken over by the Ministry of Defence (and handed over to the SLAF) and Kolitha was appointed as the Officer in Charge of the Colombo Fire Brigade.

For many years kolitha has been a visiting lecturer for Building Service Engineering at the University of Vocational Training. He had been a key resource person in delivering lectures at seminars conducted by the IFE. The Main topics that he conducts his lectures on is Designing of Fire Detection and Protections system and on Incident Command and Control.
